Background & Experience
Tara Gibson is the founder and owner of Aligned Life Physical Therapy and Pelvic Wellness, LLC. She received her BFA from Southern Methodist University and after working in theater and dance for several years, she became a certified Pilates Instructor with Romana’s Pilates in New York City. She went on to pursue physical therapy at Hunter College and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2011. She completed a residency in Vallejo, CA for 9 months studying proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) after which she received her International PNF Association Certified PNF Therapist (Level 5) status. She then completed a 1-year intensive orthopedic manual therapy residency through the Institute of Physical Art after which she was credentialed as one of less than 300 Certified Functional Manual Therapists (CFMT).
After working with both the neurological and orthopedic populations, she developed a passion for the women’s and men’s health population and began arduous study to become an expert in pelvic health. Though as a CFMT she is highly skilled in addressing any orthopedic issue, she is especially inspired to help those in need of pelvic floor physical therapy. She is currently both a Women’s Health Clinical Specialist candidate through the American Academy of Physical Therapy and a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification candidate through the Herman & Wallace Institute.
Tara is also passionate about educating the medical field and community about pelvic health physical therapy and the importance of a healthy pelvic floor. She offers educational workshops to both medical professionals and specialists, as well as a postpartum workshop for mothers on to educate on how to restore their core and pelvic floor after the stress of pregnancy and labor/delivery.
